Soul Gravity & The Closing Circle
Words to express the lessons, feelings and wisdom accumulated in a week-long tantra retreat, shared in the final sharing circle with the many beautiful souls who took part.
Gravity is what pulls the universe together. It is a fundamental yet incomprehensible force that exists and we don’t know why. It pulls moons around planets, planets around suns, suns around galaxies, and galaxies around the universe. It is unarguable, undeniable, it is absolute and all-powerful. And we don’t know why, other than it simply ‘is’.
Love is our soul gravity, it is a fundamental yet incomprehensible force that pulls humans together from across time and space, across geographies and generations. Insurmountable in its capability, it inspires those to achieve the greatest most daring feats imaginable in the name of precious unity. No matter the fear, toil, terror and trouble, love is the one constant that supersedes them all. And we don’t know why.
Yes, there will always be great fear in our lives, but love is our default setting. And I’ll prove it. You are here. I am here. Against unfathomable and astronomical odds here we are. The oldest human skeleton ever found was 180,000 years old, the average generation gap is 25 years, which means a minimum of 7,200 generations, almost 15,000 people have had to overcome unimaginable hardship; war, famine, blood, sacrifice and defiance because the love in their hearts gave them a reason to keep fighting, to keep moving towards love, all so you could be here in this very moment, here and now.
Even our traumas, the source of our greatest fears, panic and pain - even they love us. They love us so much they try to protect us through any means necessary. They are the canary in the mines of our lives. What can feel like the claws of demons sinking into our hearts at the first sense of danger, are actually just the tiny fingers of a shit-scared kid hanging on for dear life. A helpless, defenceless younger version of ourselves trying to warn us of the terror up ahead, trying to give us the warning that they never got until it was too late. They learnt a very painful lesson a long time ago and they don’t want us to ever go through what they had to - ever. They love us so much they’re willing to do anything to try and keep us alive, even if it hurts.
And therein lies the rub. To come together as people in love, to allow our human worlds to be pulled together, we must first allow our soul’s gravity to pull our own world together. Like with our very own planet Earth, it is the pulling together of forces that shouldn’t be able to coexist, violently opposing geological, chemical, electromagnetic, physical and biological powers sit in this imperfect perfection, this impossible harmony, brought together through the unwavering constant of gravity. We too must allow love, this gravity of self and soul to pull the broken and fractured pieces of ourselves back together, an impossible task but one that happens effortlessly if we can just let it. Our pain is only in the resistance to this power and when we forget to surrender to it. Our delicate inner child, our greathearted King or Queen, our swirling and magnificent primal beast, our lover, our warrior, our wild, our creatrix, our alchemist and high priest. Impossible forces that shouldn’t be able to coexist and yet here we are. And what have we learnt this week? Let them be safe, let them be seen, heard, felt, acknowledged, accepted and respected. Let them take up space, let them have a voice, let them be honoured, immersed and expressed, let them be loved, cherished and adored and then… watch your world come together. Integration is not becoming one, it’s becoming a team that works as one. Even on this verdant and sapphire paradise we call home, there will always be earthquakes, eruptions, hurricanes and flashes of lightning madness, but it is the realisation that the world turns not in spite of these seismic revelations, but that actually the world keeps turning because of them. So too our own hot magma core causes emotional earthquakes, eruptions, hurricanes and flashes of lightning madness that appear destructive, but they actually enable us to keep living, to keep loving in greater and more powerful ways. They allow us to keep evolving, becoming softer, stronger, wiser, and more beautiful versions of ourselves than there ever were before.
This week has been a reminder for us not to be fearless but to fear less and love more, to not be afraid to dive deep into every part of ourselves, over and over and over again, and like gravity simply is, we too should simply be, but to do this we must get out of our own way, we must remember to let go, we must remember to release ourselves from the safety of the river bank and to surrender to the flow, the inescapable, incomprehensible, absolute and all-powerful force that is love, and that has brought both ourselves and each other back together once again. Harmony is the eye of the storm, the still in the chaos, the light in the dark, the contraction in the expansion, the masculine in the feminine, the being in the becoming. A life in full flow. Effortless, frictionless, limitless. Love brings that harmony into our world and those within it.
Perhaps the why of gravity is the same as the why of love. This love, this harmony, it gives birth to life, it enables creation, consciousness and thus meaning. So huge thanks, gratitude and love go to the sizzling supernovas; Andrew, Rhianne, Dons and Andreia, and of course, every single one of you for bringing your own stars of shining light, life, consciousness and meaning that have warmed up our hearts, world and universe at Bodhi Kaya and beyond.
